The Kraken legend has endured for many centuries. It originated in Greece in 1555. The legend was called Scylla. The next series of sightings were in Norway during the 12th century, but it was not referred to as the Kraken untill the Systema Naturae was written in 1735 by a man named Carolus Linnaeus (Krystek). The monster has even made its way into tales during the 1930's during which there were several reaports of a gigantic creature that attacked ships on several different occasions.
